Max Alletzhauser is a poet, essayist, editor, and translator based in Stockholm.

As a writer, his leading interests lie in life-writing, formalism, 20th century Anglo-American literary history, and the urge towards self-reflection. In early 2022 he collaborated with the Johannesburg artist Sam Kentridge on The Veil, an illustrated book of twelve poems released in a limited edition. He is currently working on a series of picture-poems with a British collagist, early versions of which have been exhibited in Stockholm.

His work as a literary editor of both fiction and non-fiction involves close revision of texts on a line-by-line basis. This role extends to copy-editing various online and print publications, most notably the UK-based magazine, Art Licks.

Aside from his work as a writer and editor, Max is a professional translator from Swedish to English, working mainly within literature and the arts. His commissioning clients include the Royal Institute of Art, Magasin III and Transit. He is mid-way through the translation of a collection of Swedish poems.

He was born and raised in South Africa, and educated in the United States.
